We now stock a variety of bear making supplies in our own Bear Supplies Mail Order webstore if you'd like to have a go at making your own teddy bear. It really is an incredibly rewarding (and addictive) hobby. Along with all the fabrics, stuffing and eyes, we also sell patterns and tutorials and some fabrics in our etsy store to walk you through the process step by step (especially helpful if you're just starting out).
We have a range of silky soft faux fur available. Some pieces are have sparkly threads interwoven, while others have a different base colour to the tip and some are just so soft you want to bury your face in them!
We also stock Australian made eco stuffing, great if you're looking for a more environmentally friendly alternative to the regular polyfills. We have a lovely all natural corn fibre fill that has a delicious sweet smell, but feels just like regular stuffing. I really don't know how they do it. It isn't as slippery as plastic stuffing, so packs in really well for traditional bears, or for areas you need to needle sculpt (heads/paws etc). If you imagine cotton filling - this is pretty much on par with the corn fiber.
We also have a recycled polyfill made from PET (recycled water bottles), and it feels JUST like 'normal' polyfill: silky, bouncy and really good for softer stuffing.
HAND PAINTED GLASS EYES
We create our own hand painted, often one of a kind glass eyes as well. I got really envious seeing all these amazing bears being created by other artists with spectacular hand painted eyes - so decided to give it a go myself. It's a long process, but the end result is definitely worth it. Eyes are SO important in terms of the finished appeal of a bear, that it really is worth spending a bit of extra time/money to get them perfect!
And we have a decent range of personally selected and imported mohair available at present. We have an original range of mohair available in larger amounts, a limited edition range of mohair only available in selected sizes and a OOAK range of hand painted unique rainbow mohair pieces, very much like the pieces I've created for the bears shown below. The hand-dyed mohair range changes very frequently, so check back as often as you can to avoid missing out!
